What does “UAS” mean?

“UAS” - Unmanned Aircraft System(s)

UAS technology is continuing to improve and change the world as we know it. Whether it be attractive aerial photography on Zillow, weekly 3D renders of a construction site’s daily improvements, or a thermal camera used for aerial search & resuce missions, many companies are finding new and improved ways to accomplish old tasks using new technology.

Continuing to evolve past it’s typical military roots, UAS technology has caught the eye of many industries looking to analyze and harvest data more efficiently. Unmanned Aircraft Systems have proven to be a powerful tool of commercial and industrial businesses around the world by providing companies with faster, more precise analyzed data sets to make superior decisons.

So, you might now be asking- why don’t they just call them “Drones” ?

In short, the FAA, Federal Aviation Administration, and the DOT, Department of Transportation, both refer to drones as UAS Technology. Legislation produced by the FAA, titles all drones and UAVs as UAS, and there is no plan to swap the terminology in the future. As this technology becomes more prevalent in our economy, UAS will be a common term that anyone at your dinner table will understand and connect with.
